I live in South London and, although I have made more money through other creative interests, I have been drawing all my life. My formal art education was in London at Chelsea School of Art (Foundation) and St Martin's School of Art (BA Hons). However, the work you see here is from more recent history.
I draw everything from life, usually in ink or soluble pencil. This means all the mistakes are there. Some of the drawings are quick, like the naked dancers in movement or animals that don't care for posing.
In 2013 I had my first solo exhibition at the Jeannie Avent Gallery - Inkwash 2013. This year I will be having my seventh September exhibition there (imaginatively, it will be called Inkwash 2019). Many thanks to Jeannie for encouraging me and allowing me into her wonderful East Dulwich gallery every year.
If you really want to know more about me and how I work check out the no-holds-barred FAQ page.
On this website you'll find a lot of my work, but not all of it. I don't display original artwork for sale here. It is too difficult to keep fully up to date and list all the options for framing and shipping and that kind of thing. If you like my work and are interested it getting an original piece, contact me and I'll send you the a list of pictures available. Or come to my next exhibition. At any time there is always a wide range of original art for sale, just ask.
I also have a webshop where you can easily purchase a wide range of cards and prints.
I must say thanks (and give a plug) to some other people who have helped me in one way and another:
Gabrielle Bradshaw. If she hadn't pushed me, I would never have jumped! Please have a look at her work, it's much better than mine.
The Dulwich Art Group - I have known Alison and Simon for many years and they run a fantastic group for artists of all abilities. Primarily life classes, but they also do short courses in oil painting, portraiture and landscapes. They are lovely people and work very hard to keep their passion for art and artists alive. They have been enormously supporting of my work and allow me join in with their annual show.
Coral Woods - my sister is also an artist. She has an impressive variety of skills from digital animation to kinetic sculpture as well as traditional media. She's been an inspiration to me all my life and I'm delighted she is pursuing her art so vigourously at the moment.
Know & Love - Karen, who runs this wonderful company full of unique and tasteful ideas, has been stupid enough to invest in my work much more than I deserve. She even sells my cards. And she is lovely.
Fitch & Fellows - Susanah has been a generous suporter of my work for some time and my cards and pictures are for sale in her shop not far from Oxford.
